Frequently asked questions
Why is the riser count rounded up?
A partial step cannot be built, and rounding up keeps the actual riser at or below the entered target. The total rise is then divided equally among all risers.
Why are there fewer treads than risers?
A typical flight uses the upper floor or landing as the final walking surface. Therefore the horizontal run contains one fewer constructed tread.
Does the volume include a landing?
No, it covers only the solid stepped flight represented by the entered dimensions. Calculate landings, footings, and other slabs separately.
Can I use this for stairs with a sloped underside?
Not directly, because that shape contains less concrete than a solid stepped mass. Use project geometry or structural drawings to calculate the sloped waist slab and steps.
Does the result guarantee code compliance?
No, it only reports geometry and volume. Check all dimensions, uniformity, handrails, landings, headroom, and structural details against applicable requirements.
