Frequently asked questions
Can this calculate a solid cylinder?
Yes, enter zero for the inner diameter. The formula then uses the complete circular cross section.
Why must the inner diameter be smaller?
Concrete occupies the ring between the two circles. An equal or larger opening would leave zero or negative concrete area.
How are concrete bags estimated?
The result divides cubic feet by an assumed 0.6 cubic foot yield and rounds up. Always check the actual yield printed on the selected product.
Should I order the exact cubic-yard result?
Usually no, because placement and dimensions create unavoidable variation. Discuss waste allowance, minimum loads, and delivery increments with the supplier.
Does the calculator size reinforcement?
No, it estimates geometry and material quantity only. Structural reinforcement and wall thickness must follow the project design and applicable code.
