Does this calculator include the ceiling?
No, the calculation covers the four walls of a rectangular room. Calculate ceiling area separately and add the required panels and finishing materials.
Why is fifteen percent waste included?
Panels must be cut around corners and openings, and many offcuts cannot be reused. Complex layouts may require a larger allowance while simple rooms may use less.
How are doors and windows deducted?
Each door is treated as twenty-one square feet and each window as twelve square feet. Use a detailed takeoff when actual opening sizes differ significantly.
Are compound, screws, and tape exact quantities?
They are rounded planning allowances based on net area. Finish level, framing spacing, installer practice, and package coverage can change actual consumption.
Should I choose the largest available sheet?
Not automatically. Larger sheets reduce joints, but access, lifting capacity, framing layout, and safe handling should guide the choice.
