About the Army body fat tape test

The Army body fat calculator estimates body composition from circumference measurements rather than body weight alone. For men, the equation compares waist circumference with neck circumference and adjusts the result for height. For women, it combines waist and hip circumferences, subtracts neck circumference, and also adjusts for height. The logarithmic equations were developed for military screening and are often called the tape test or circumference method. This tool applies the commonly published U.S. military equations using measurements in inches. Measurement technique matters. Height should be recorded without shoes.
