Can joules be converted to volts without charge?
No. Voltage is energy per unit charge, so a charge value is required to establish the ratio.
What is the joules-to-volts formula?
Divide energy in joules by charge in coulombs. One joule per coulomb is exactly one volt.
Why must charge be greater than zero?
The formula places charge in the denominator, and division by zero is undefined. A positive magnitude also keeps this general-purpose calculation straightforward.
Does this calculator include resistance or current?
No. It uses only the energy-charge definition of voltage and does not model Ohm's law, current, resistance, or time.
Can I enter millijoules or microcoulombs directly?
