About CBM for shipping

CBM means cubic meter, the standard volume unit used throughout international freight and logistics. Carriers, freight forwarders, warehouses, and importers use shipment volume to reserve cargo space and compare transport options. This calculator finds the volume of rectangular cartons or crates by multiplying outside length, width, and height, converting the dimensions to meters, and multiplying by the number of identical packages. For dimensions already measured in meters, the formula is length times width times height times quantity. Centimeter measurements are divided by one million after multiplication because one cubic meter contains one million cubic centimeters. Inch and foot measurements are converted using their exact metric relationships. The result also appears in cubic feet so teams working with imperial warehouse plans can use the same shipment estimate. Always measure the package at its greatest outside points after final packing. Include protruding handles, pallet overhang, protective corners, and any other feature that occupies cargo space. If packages have different sizes, calculate each size group separately and add the CBM totals. The quantity field should contain only identical cartons with the same dimensions.
