How is ponderal index calculated?
Divide weight in kilograms by height in meters cubed. The resulting adult value is commonly expressed in kilograms per cubic meter.
How does ponderal index differ from BMI?
BMI divides weight by height squared, while ponderal index uses height cubed. The cubic relationship may reduce height-related distortion when people of very different stature are compared.
What is a normal adult ponderal index?
Values around 11 to 15 kg/m³ are often used as a broad adult reference. Cutoffs vary by population and should not be treated as a diagnosis.
Can the calculator measure body fat?
