HEROES Act Stimulus FAQ
Why is every dependent $1,200 instead of $500?
This simplified HEROES Act model treats each counted person as a full unit. That is more generous to children and other dependents than the $500 add-on used on the HEALS Act page.
Did households actually receive this amount as a second check?
No. The enacted second round used $600 amounts. The HEROES Act was a House package; this calculator is a proposal estimate for comparison.
Does a spouse count as a dependent here?
Only if you put them in the dependent count. The engine adds $1,200 for the filer automatically and $1,200 per dependent you enter. It has no married-filing-jointly toggle.
Can this result appear on a tax return?
No. Recovery Rebate Credit lines used IRS rules and amounts already paid. Do not enter this HEROES Act figure on Form 1040 or in a refund claim.
