How is fence perimeter calculated?
For a rectangular area, perimeter equals two times the length plus two times the width. Measure the intended fence line directly when the property is irregular or a side will remain open.
Why does the calculator round panel quantity up?
Suppliers sell whole panels, and even a short remaining span needs material. The final panel can usually be cut to fit the available distance.
How are gate posts counted?
The estimate adds two dedicated posts for each gate opening. Heavy or unusually wide gates may need larger posts, deeper footings, or additional hardware specified by the manufacturer.
Does the total include every project expense?
No. It covers the entered panels, posts, gates, and linear-foot labor only, so concrete, hardware, delivery, removal, permits, tax, and waste should be added separately.
Can I use this estimate for an irregular yard?
Yes, if you first measure the actual total fence-line length and translate it into equivalent length and width inputs. For complex layouts, calculate sections separately and combine their material lists.
