Does crop factor change a lens's focal length?
No, focal length is a physical property of the lens and remains unchanged. Crop factor only describes the narrower or wider field of view relative to full frame.
Why is full frame approximately 43.27 mm diagonally?
A 36 by 24 millimeter rectangle has a diagonal found with the Pythagorean theorem. The result is approximately 43.27 millimeters.
Can I enter a medium-format sensor?
Yes, any positive width and height can be used. A sensor larger than full frame will produce a crop factor below one.
Does this calculate vertical field of view?
The displayed angle is horizontal and uses sensor width. A vertical angle would use sensor height in the same field-of-view formula.
Why does my camera's published crop factor differ slightly?
Manufacturers may round values or use a slightly different active imaging area. Entering exact active dimensions gives the most specific result.
