About the Warsaw Method health score

The Warsaw Method calculator presented here is a broad educational health assessment that combines cardiovascular, metabolic, body-composition, and lifestyle information. It produces a transparent point score so users can see how measurements farther from commonly used reference values increase the total. It is not a formally validated clinical prediction model and should not be confused with established tools such as SCORE2, Framingham, QRISK, or an individualized assessment from a healthcare professional. The model considers age, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting glucose, waist circumference, and body mass index. It also adds context for smoking, known diabetes, family history of heart disease, and physical activity. Higher blood pressure, a less favorable lipid pattern, elevated fasting glucose, central adiposity, and higher BMI add points progressively rather than creating a single pass-or-fail boundary. High HDL and regular activity can reduce the composite relative to otherwise similar profiles. Scores below 10 are labeled low risk, scores from 10 through 24 are labeled moderate risk, and scores of 25 or more are labeled high risk. Those labels describe this calculator only. They do not represent a percentage probability of a heart attack, stroke, diabetes complication, or death. A low score cannot rule out disease, and a high score does not prove that disease is present. Symptoms, medications, pregnancy, ancestry, medical history, laboratory methods, and many conditions are not represented. Use recent, properly measured values. Blood pressure should ideally be based on repeated seated readings with a suitable cuff. Fasting blood sugar and lipid values should come from a laboratory report, with units confirmed as milligrams per deciliter. Measure the waist with a horizontal tape near the midpoint between the lowest rib and top of the hip bone. BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared, but it does not distinguish fat from muscle. The most useful role of a composite score is to organize a conversation. Instead of focusing only on the final category, review which modifiable inputs contributed most. Smoking cessation, regular physical activity, a balanced diet, adequate sleep, and adherence to prescribed treatment may improve long-term health, but changes should match individual needs.
