Subtract 273.15 from the Kelvin value. For example, 300 K equals 26.85 degrees Celsius.
How do I convert Kelvin to Fahrenheit?
Multiply Kelvin by nine fifths and then subtract 459.67. This converts the absolute Kelvin reference point and the interval size in one formula.
Why does Kelvin not use a degree symbol?
Kelvin is an absolute SI unit rather than a relative degree scale. The correct unit symbol is simply K, such as 273.15 K.
Can Kelvin temperatures be negative?
Ordinary thermodynamic temperatures cannot fall below 0 K, so this calculator rejects such inputs. Specialized negative-temperature states in physics describe unusual population distributions and are not colder than absolute zero.
Is 0 degrees Celsius the same as 273 K?
More precisely, 0 degrees Celsius equals 273.15 K exactly. Using 273 K is a convenient approximation but loses 0.15 kelvin of precision.
