What is the formula for chord length?
Chord length equals two times the radius times the sine of half the central angle. The angle must be expressed in radians when evaluated mathematically.
Is a diameter also a chord?
Yes, a diameter is a chord that passes through the center of the circle. It is the longest chord and equals twice the radius.
What is the difference between a chord and an arc?
A chord is the straight segment connecting two points on a circle. An arc follows the curved circumference between those same points.
What is sagitta?
Sagitta is the perpendicular distance from the midpoint of a chord to the corresponding arc. It is also called the rise or height of the circular segment.
Which unit does the calculator use?
