These coefficient labels reflect the original study groups and do not capture every aspect of an individual's physiology.
Blood volume generally scales with body size and body composition, but it is not a fixed percentage for everyone. Age, pregnancy, athletic conditioning, obesity, hydration, altitude, disease, and recent fluid changes can affect actual circulating volume. Formula performance may be less reliable at extremes of height or weight and in children, infants, pregnant people, or critically ill patients.
