What is the ABSI formula?
ABSI is waist circumference in meters divided by BMI to the two-thirds power and height in meters to the one-half power. BMI is calculated from weight and height first.
Is ABSI the same as BMI?
No, BMI relates body weight to height while ABSI adds waist circumference to describe central body shape. The two measures provide different but limited information.
What is a normal ABSI?
A raw ABSI needs comparison with age- and sex-specific population data. There is no single cutoff that is appropriate for everyone.
