About the CPC and CPM Calculator
CPC and CPM Examples
CPC divides spend by clicks; CPM divides spend by impressions and multiplies by 1,000.
| Inputs | Result | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| $2,000 spend, 800 clicks, 100,000 impressions | CPC $2.50 | CPM is $20.00; click-through rate is 0.80%. |
| $450 spend, 300 clicks, 50,000 impressions | CPC $1.50 | CPM is $9.00 on cheaper inventory or a tighter click-led campaign. |
| $10,000 spend, 2,500 clicks, 2,000,000 impressions | CPC $4.00 | CPM is $5.00; a higher CPC can still sit on a low CPM when CTR is thin. |

CPC and CPM FAQ
What is the difference between CPC and CPM?
CPC prices a click. CPM prices one thousand impressions. Search campaigns often live in CPC space; awareness campaigns often live in CPM space. Both can be computed from the same total spend if you have both volume metrics.
Are impressions required?
No. Leave impressions blank when you only need cost per click. The CPM line will show $0.00 in that case because there is no impression denominator, not because inventory was free.
How do CPC and CPM relate to CTR?
Click-through rate is clicks divided by impressions. With CTR as a decimal, CPC = CPM / (CTR × 1,000). A thin CTR raises CPC for a given CPM.
Should I use link clicks or all clicks?
Use the click type that matches how you buy or how you report to finance, and keep it stable. Mixing all-clicks CPC with link-click history will look like a performance swing that is only a definition change.
Does the CPC and CPM calculator include conversion value?
No. It prices traffic, not revenue. Combine CPC with conversion rate to estimate CPA, and combine spend with revenue for ROAS in a separate step.
