What is a good LTV:CAC ratio?
Many growth teams look for a ratio above 3:1, but the right target depends on payback period, capital availability, and retention confidence. A lower ratio may be acceptable for strategic segments or early testing.
How should customer lifespan be estimated?
Use cohort retention data when available. If you only know churn, a rough lifespan estimate can be derived from expected retention behavior, but it should be revisited as real data improves.
Does this include discounting future cash flows?
No. The calculation treats future gross profit at nominal value. For long customer lifespans or high discount-rate environments, a discounted cash flow model may be more appropriate.
Can I use the same CLTV for all customers?
