What is the formula for mole fraction?
Divide the moles of a selected component by the total moles of every component in the mixture. The quotient is dimensionless because the mole units cancel.
What should all mole fractions add up to?
The mole fractions of every component in a complete mixture add to exactly one. Their equivalent mole percentages add to 100 percent before display rounding.
How is mole fraction different from mole percent?
Mole percent is simply mole fraction multiplied by 100. A mole fraction of 0.35 is therefore the same composition as 35 mole percent.
Can I enter millimoles instead of moles?
Yes, provided every component uses millimoles consistently. The common scale factor cancels when each amount is divided by the total.
How do I calculate mole fraction from mass?
First divide each component's mass by its own molar mass to obtain moles. Enter those mole values rather than the original masses in this calculator.
