About lawn mowing cost estimates
Lawn mowing estimate examples
| Area | Mower setup | Estimated time | Estimated cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 m² | 0.5 m at 5 km/h, 80% efficient | 0.50 hours | $20.00 at $40/hour |
| 1 acre | 1.2 m at 6 km/h, 75% efficient | 0.75 hours | $29.98 at $40/hour |
| 2 hectares | 2 m at 8 km/h, 75% efficient | 1.67 hours | $100.00 at $60/hour |
How to estimate lawn mowing cost
- Measure the mowable lawn area and choose its unit.
- Enter the mower cutting width, working speed, and realistic field efficiency.
- Add labor, fuel, and machine costs for one operating hour.
- Select Calculate Mowing Cost and review time, total cost, and normalized cost.
Lawn mowing cost FAQ
What does field efficiency mean?
Field efficiency is the share of theoretical mower capacity achieved in real work. It accounts for turning, overlap, obstacles, stops, and other lost time.
How do I choose mowing speed?
Use the speed the mower can sustain while producing the required finish, not its maximum travel speed. Tall or wet turf, slopes, and rough ground usually require a slower value.
What should machine cost include?
Machine cost can include rental or ownership, depreciation, maintenance, blades, insurance, and other equipment overhead. Keep fuel separate if it is entered in the fuel field.
Does the total include profit and tax?
No, the result totals only the hourly categories entered. A contractor should add travel, minimum charges, tax, profit, and extra services as appropriate.
Why is my actual mowing time longer?
The lawn may have more obstacles, overlap, slope, trimming, or cleanup than the efficiency assumption allowed. Record actual time and lower the efficiency for future estimates on similar sites.
